day 1: shadowbox- Tyler block

Today was the first day of J-term. I came in with an idea of what I wanted to do so it was easy for me to get started. on two pieces of paper I drew out the designs for my project. I had forgotten that everything would be a silhouette so I had to go back and take up another page doing smaller little pieces and designs for the layers. Drawing the layers was really fun because it brought a new challenge and twist to one of my favorite pieces of art that I like to recreate. My project that I started on is going to be a cool take on the famous Japanese print from the late 1800's called The Great Wave off Kanagawa, or the Great Wave for short. I would like to add my own little twist to it in the final result maybe with some paints and the colors but I am not sure what that might be yet.
